The Million Dollar Secrets for Doubling Your Website Traffic

by Daniel Z. Kane

There is only one reason to build a website or create a blog; to get people to read your message. It doesn’t matter whether you created your website or blog for fun, to share your views about a subject important to you, or to make money, the more visitors to your site, the better.

Of course, not all website visitors are equal. Ideally, a high percentage your website visitors should be folks interested in the subject of your site, not surfers who wind up there by accident.

Some websites get all their traffic via advertising. But, advertising can be expensive and most folks who advertise get “hit and miss” results. For those reasons, and others, organic search engine traffic is your best bet. And, for that, you’ll need good search engine rankings.

Not everyone spends their advertising dollars badly, but not even the best advertising program can compensate for the absence of good search engine rankings in Google and Yahoo.

Nobody can argue against the often made statement that “content is king” in developing a good website and in achieving enviable search engine rankings. And, if you emphasize the wrong keywords on your website and in your promotional activities, you’re sunk. But, anything and everything else you do will not get you where you want to be in the search engine rankings without an aggressive, ongoing link building effort.

Writing and submitting articles like this one is a great way to obtain quality links (look at the author’s box below). If you wish, you can hire folks to write for you, very inexpensively. And, there are several good pieces of software which can automate the submission of your articles to article distribution websites, individual website owners, RSS feeds, and media outlets of various kinds.

Requesting links on individual websites can also lead to a big boost in your search engine rankings. And, there are software programs that automate the process of identifying websites on subjects related to yours and contacting their webmasters. Alternatively, you can accomplish the same things manually, but it will be far more time consuming.

In the more than five years since our organization began offering free search engine optimization tutorials, hundreds of our students have achieved dramatic gains in their search engine rankings. Consistently, most of them have told us that the single most important factor in their success has been their focus on a continuing effort to acquire high quality links.

If you are serious about the success of your website and you are not yet conducting an aggressive link campaign, you should begin doing so today.

Easy Ways to Boost Website Traffic Now

by Paul Turner Marketing.com

Can you boost your web site traffic today? And I don’t mean necessarily by PPC (pay per click) which can be expensive. Here are some ideas and things you can do for little or no cost and get people visiting your site within a few hours.

Blogging - do you own your own blog? If not you can set one up today for no money at all by using www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com and start getting links to your site. Some of those links will generate their own traffic, so the trick is to get the word out about your post. What do you do is write a post with keywords related to your topic or niche, and then use the ping services to get the word out. Try using www.pingomatic.com and www.pingoat.com that will send your link out to lots of blog directories and sites. Traffic will grow the more you do it.

Forum posting - most subjects or niches on the web now have their very own forum related to it and you can join them mostly for free. Make good posts that people are interested in amongst the popular threads and you will get people clicking on your link.

Article writing - whilst some of the better article directories review your article before they post it to ensure quality some don’t, and that means you can get an article with a link to your site visible the same day. Other people pick up on them and put them on your sites all with your author bio box at the bottom linking to your site.

Digg it - Digg is a wonderful site where you can post a small snippet or summary of your blog post, article post, or text from your web site. It doesn’t take long at all for this to appear on their high ranking and busy pages, again offering a potential boost to your site traffic.

Email your list - you should have your own list as they know you, trust you and hopefully will listen to you and look at what you have to say. I know some people that have lists of over 60,000. When you have built this up it is easy to get traffic to your offer whenever you want - just don’t email them too often.

Joint Ventures - politely ask another list owner in your business if you can form a mutually beneficial partnership and let them promote to your list, or put a banner on your web site. In exchange you get to do the same, but emailing to their list is the most beneficial thing to do and this can bring you a boost to your internet traffic. Make sure you aren’t in direct competition with each other. To use a popular example, if you knew a business that sold gold clubs and you sold golf shoes then you have a product that will be of interest but not in direct competition.

Now That I have a Website

by William Stanislaws

Now that you have a website the next step is to get it found on the search engines. If you talk with a search engine marketing consultant, he or she will have certain recommendations about what you need to do to ensure your website shows up near the top of search engine results. Search engine marketing ensures that your website will have the ability to be near the top of search engine results. People who are searching for your particular topic will then be able to click through to your website, giving you prospective customers if you operate a business website.

If you talk with search engine marketing services companies to ensure you receive great traffic, much of the attention and questioning will revolve around how many incoming links you have, your content, and how your site is optimized around your main keywords. These factors help determine your ranking in search engines and whether you will show up in the top ten rankings or not. This article will explain six important factors in a brief period of time you should look for when doing search engine optimization marketing.

The first important factor a search engine marketing services company will look into is a competitive analysis. This will help determine which companies are in the top ten rankings for certain keywords and why they are currently there.

Another factor which will be examined is keyword research and what keywords are used and what kind of results happen with these. If you do not have the right keywords used, you will not have as strong of an audience visiting your website as you could have hoped for.

A search engine marketing consultant will then look at your page optimization. Your pages need to be optimized for the various keywords so that your pages will show up in search engine results for different keywords depending upon the content of a particular page.

Search engine marketing services companies will then examine your site usability. It is important to have your website show up in search engines but you must also make sure that it is easy for your audience to get around your website and find what they are looking for.

Off page optimization is important and includes such activities such as link building. Search engines place great emphasis on this because you have to show the value of your website to other website owners who see enough value to link to your website.

One other factor you will want to look into is paid search engine marketing. This would include Adwords and you may want to think about this because you can put your website in front of your audience immediately.

Can you not see the importance of these tips if you were a search engine marketing consultant? There are certain steps that must be done to develop a highly successful website and this website covers many of those steps. Be sure to use these to maximize your website’s chances for success.

Tips For Designing Your Website

by Lucas Heijn

Designing your website is usually done with sales in mind. First impressions are very important. It’s much like visiting the headquarters of an off-line company. For this reason, it is very important to keep good design principles in mind. Your site needs to be unable to reach the maximum number of people in the most styles possible.

Plan Navigation

Avoid confusion. You must give clear direction on how to navigate your site. If your visitor is confused about how to get around your site they will just leave it and go somewhere else. Your navigation, must be clear, uncluttered, and concise.

You need to make it easy for visitors to get around and find the content on your site. Let’s say you have a thousand articles on your site and a visitor is looking for a certain one. You need to make it easy to find. You need to provide a feasible means for someone to find it without a hassle. This could be an SQL driven database, or just a glossary Index. By providing such a feature you make sure your visitors use your site.

Your goal in navigation should be to keep it so simple that even a young child would be able to navigate your site. Multi tiered drop-down menus and complicated flash-based navigation should be avoided. If your visitor can’t work out how to navigate your site they will leave.

It is important to avoid confusion. If your visitors become confused you will lose them. At times your visitors will be deeply engrossed in surfing your site. Your pages must make it possible for them to know where they are, and how to get back to the main page.

Here are a few more tips that will help.

#1 Do not use splash pages.

On some websites the first page you come to is a pretty page that welcomes you to the site and may also have something like “click here to enter”. This is a splash page. It serves no real purpose other than to be pretty as often they are highly graphical pages. The reason to avoid splash pages is to give your visitor no reason to click the back button.

#2 Be careful not to use too many banner ads

Do you even bother to look at Banner ads or take notice of them? I would say that almost nobody does. It is obvious from this that they are not effective. If you use lots of banner ads, you are wasting valuable web space that would be better used in providing content for your visitors. In this content, you could weave affiliate links, helping your customers to feel that they want to buy and never feel pushed to buy.

#3 Avoid Audio

Have you ever visited a site and you are trying to concentrate on the content, but find the audio overwhelming. What did you do? There are a few options. One is turn down the sound on your computer or hopefully, there is a volume control on the site. If you have plenty of content on your site you will be better off not using audio. If you are determined to have audio on your site, make sure there is a volume control or muting available.
